On Saturday 24th March,
a concert was held at All Saints Church as
a fund raising event for the Living Stones appeal and it was a great
evening. Nothing unusual about a choir in
a Church I know but for this choir (The Cantium Singers) it was
their inaugural concert and they were wonderful.
There
were 40 ladies and gentlemen all singing their hearts out. A good
mixture of music ranging from classical, to the Beatles and music
from the shows. We were treated to rousing numbers from Oklahoma,
Oliver and after the interval we all had an Andrew Lloyd Webber
moment when we were allowed to join in the singing;
the Church was alive with the Sound of Music. Connie Fisher eat
your heart out. Rumour has it that at least one member of our
Church was bitterly disappointed that the Lonely Goatherd was not
included in this!
Wine and nibbles were
provided during the interval (which definitely helped the
mass singing) and everyone appeared to
have had a very enjoyable evening. A big thank you to the Cantium
Singers and also to everyone who attended the concert. Watch this
space for further Living Stones events.
The Coffee Morning and Sale was held on Saturday
3rd March and raised £344 for Living Stones.

Kid’s Church

Last term 30-40+ children
came to Bishop Gundulph

Yvonne and Norman have moved to
Stratford-upon-Avon to be nearer their children and grandchildren, leaving Frindsbury with
Upnor Parish after 18 years in the Diocese. Norman actually retired
as Archdeacon of Rochester 6 years ago but has been very involved in
our parish since then. Yvonne is a psychotherapist and
counsellor and, until recently, a lay reader at All Saints Church.
We wish them well but are sad to see them go.
Following on from the recent Holiday club, an alternative to Halloween
was organised for youngsters
to come and enjoy themselves. The theme was Narnia, and the children
were asked to come dressed as Narnia characters.

Harvest supper was well attended. We enjoyed a 'Monk's Supper' of
home made soup, with bread and cheese. The evening's proceeds along
with the raffle added another £190 to the "Living Stones Appeal".
Twenty
Eight keen cyclists of all ages recently took part in the 'On Yer
Bike' ride organised by Derek King in aid of the Living Stones
appeal. On a hot and sunny afternoon everyone enjoyed the ride and
the challenges set by Derek King and his helpers. Many thanks to everyone
who sponsored this event.
The Mityana Charity is supporting community work in a town of
around 30,000 people in central Uganda. Ian Brown and his
wife Julie visited the town in October 2005. Canon John Musaasizi is
the chairman of the charity in Mityana. He and a small team
administer the charities which oversee work in the orphanage,
primary schools and the diocesan training centre next to the
cathedral in Mityana. The Parish of Frindsbury with Upnor and
Chattenden PCC has decided that during 2006 at occasional services
and other occasional events where we wish to give to outside
causes, World Vision and the Mityana charity will be the recipients.
