Update on the Living Stones project is as follows.-
Following careful consultation with the DAC, a DAC certificate
was issued on the 2nd June 2009, to cover the WC and
drainage, flower arranging area, creche’, refreshment area and
‘welcome area’ at the rear of the nave. The disabled access via
the South door is also included. The certificate stated that the
DAC would support our petition for faculty subject to the
following. –
Consultation with English Heritage and the Society for the
Protection of Ancient Buildings. Establishment of an
archeological watching brief when groundwork commences.
Completion of the tendering process.
Display of a public notice for a period of 28 days.
The consultation process resulted in several elements of
‘advice’, most of which conflicted with the key objectives of
the project, and the wishes of our church community. A paper was
subsequently written detailing our position on such advice and
this has been accepted as relevant and constructive by the DAC,
and will be included in our faculty application.
The archeological watching brief has been agreed with the Medway
Arch research group subject to appropriate notice being given
The public notices were displayed for the 28 days and no
objections have been lodged.
The tender process is due to start in mid October with tenders
in for review in November.
We have been working closely with our architect to agree the
specification against which all work will be tendered, and the
final version is in the process of being published. An
application for building regulation consent is to be submitted
to the local authority during October.
In the background, grant applications and fundraising events
continue.
