A
building dating from Saxon times and capable of holding
200 seated worshippers. It has an organ and has recently
restored its 8 bells. It has a sound/P.A. system including
a ‘loop’ system. It has CCTV security
and is alarmed. The church itself is surrounded on all sides
by graveyards; the West Churchyard (now closed) is managed
by Medway Council, and the East Churchyard, managed by the
PCC, has easy yet secure access to the Vicarage from the
Churchyard.
This
is a small, picturesque mid-Victorian church. It has an
organ and has recently undergone refurbishment with the
installation of fixed heating, a toilet and a kitchenette.
A small area of graveyard surrounds the Church. It
is quite close to the river and mid-way between Lower and
Upper Upnor.
Until
1998 this was the Garrison Church of the Royal Engineers
in the Garrison Camp at Chattenden. It was ‘gifted’
from the Army Chaplains Department to Rochester Diocese
in 1998 and became part of the responsibility of the PCC
at that time. It is a fairly modern building built in the
1960’s. The church has fixed pews, an entrance lobby,
a small hall, two toilets and two small rooms (vestry/ex
choir vestry). It has an organ and is surrounded by grassed
areas currently maintained by the local authority.
The
Parish Hall was rebuilt 12 years ago, after a fire destroyed
the previous building. It includes a large well-equipped
hall (including kitchen) which can hold up to 140 people
seated. The Upper Room is suitable for smaller meetings.
The Parish Office is also located at the hall and houses
the reprographic equipment, as well as being the base for
the Parish Administrator. A playgroup uses the hall four
mornings a week and various other organisations use the
hall on a regular basis, including Rainbows, Brownies and
Guides, Frindsbury Floral Art group, Wives fellowship and
Women’s Institute. It is also available for casual
bookings.
This
building was named in memory of Brenda
Paine.
Scout
Hall
Next
to the Brenda Paine Building is
the Scout Hall, which is very well utilised by a most active
and large Scout Group consisting of Beavers/Cubs/Scouts
and Explorers Scouts – the Scout Group is affiliated
to and sponsored by All Saints Church.
