A very special guest Mortimer mouse is coming to All Saints
Church Sunday 28th September for 'Back to Church Sunday'. Children of all
ages will love this cuddly friendly mouse. All Saints Church used to have
a resident church mouse 'Morris' but sadly he had to leave when Roger Dyer moved
away. We very much hope that Mortimer will stay with us so please give him
a huge welcome when you see him.
5 Musicians, 40 instruments. Entertainment for ears and eyes,
a joy to hear and see! What a great evening's entertainment we
had when the Pifferari musicians visited All Saints Church on
August 31st 2008. We were treated to classic pieces from Bach to
Blues played on unusual woodwind instruments from their
collection. Everyone agreed that it was a fun evening. It was
surprising to hear the blues played on instruments called a
'racket' and a 'crumhorn'! and bach arranged for two recorders,
a piccolo and a zylophone but pifferari performed magnificently
and carried it off. The finale was hilarious thanks to Colin
conducting the audience balloon popping in time to the music.
Thank you to Margaret, Matthias, David, Colin and Janet and a
special thank you to Jean and Fred Stone for arranging the
evening. Over £1000 was raised for Living stones by the event.
You can sample two excerpts from the evening. A video excerpt of
the finale will be posted here in the future (watch this space).
If you want to watch a DVD of the concert we hope to have this
available soon.
